Selective Laser Sintering flexible (SLS) Sintered rubber in 50, 60, 70, 80 Shore-A, SLS TPU 88A
Laser sintering is a generative, layer-based construction process. The model is constructed via local sintering or melting of layers of powdered material using focused laser radiation. This means that any three-dimensional geometries can be created in 3D printing. The elastic, neoprene-like material SLS Rubber expands your scope in the SLS process. In addition, the SLS TPU material opens up long-term stability for you. Together, the two flexible SLS materials provide numerous advantages due to their greater elasticity.
Material
In SLS rubber, a powdered starting material is fused layer by layer with the aid of a laser to form a three-dimensional geometry. Depending on the exposure power, the elasticity and thus the Shore hardness can be controlled. Subsequent infiltration gives the components their corresponding properties and the selected color. In the case of SLS TPU material, the starting material is also in powder form. However, the manufacturing process is only single-stage. After fusion and removal of the residual powder, the components are final. SLS TPU components can also be dyed to your desired color.
Application examples for SLS rubber + TPU
SLS rubber
Is very suitable in the field of prototyping with functional or design samples. Typical areas of application are:
- Soft component holding fixtures
- Elastic fixtures
- Handles for medical devices and industrial products
- Holding devices and protective covers for sensitive products
SLS TPU
In addition to prototyping, it is also very often used in series production. Due to the possibility of chemical smoothing, TPU components can also be used in the field of seals. Typical areas of application are:
- Seals for cars or electronic devices
- Assemblies with seals
- Soft component holding fixtures
- Elastic fixtures
- Handles for medical devices and industrial products
- Tubes or flexible keyboard keys (conditionally suitable in series production)
- Holding devices and protective covers for sensitive products

Systems
At 1zu1
we currently have 13 SLS machines for plastics with different materials at your disposal. We are constantly investing in new machine technologies. On all machines we realize build layers from 40 - 100 µm and wall thicknesses from 0.22 up to 0.65 mm. Previously visible layers disappear more and more, clean and smooth sidewalls are created, fine or large parts can be produced even more accurately. We start daily with all materials. Our standard lead times are 3 days. Larger dimensions or quantities on request.
