Skip to main content: Stereolithography – Material variety

Stereolithography Material variety

Are you in the middle of a product development cycle right now? Do you want to find out if your product will meet the subsequent requirements, or if further improvements are necessary? Then it’s worth considering prototyping with the stereolithography method (3D printing).

Stereolithography method (3D printing). This process is ideal for detailed models or small series thanks to its high precision, flexible component sizes, short lead times and a wide variety of available materials for diverse requirements.

Wide variety of materials
Looks just like the real thing

Stereolithography material will bring your ideas to life. 1zu1 has expanded its range of materials and offers solutions for almost every application. A wide range of materials is available to ensure the correct aesthetics, haptics and functionality for your model. You will hardly notice any difference to the subsequent series part.

Accura® Xtreme

Standard material, durable, impact-resistant. Highly suitable for dimensional, fit and functional models – and the ideal choice as a master model for vacuum casting. Highly workable surface.

Accura® 25

Stable and very flexible, therefore more suitable for catches (for example) than the standard material. For components that need to look similar to white PP or PE. A good choice for models intended for market research or trade-fair presentations

Somos® WaterClear Ultra

Transparent, highly transparent or with translucent surface finish. Lets you see inside the model. Suitable for showpieces, teaching materials, fiber optics, bottles or lenses

Somos® PerFORM

Extremely rigid and thermally stable up to 230° Celsius. Highly suitable for test components that are subjected to extremely high loads (e.g., turbines or wind-tunnel models)

Somos® ProtoTherm

Thermally stable up to 121° Celsius. Ideal for small electronic plugs or parts used to analyze the flow behavior of liquids in the high-temperature range, or which require high temperatures.

Precision workmanship
Layers with the width of a human hair.

In STL machines, light-sensitive, liquid epoxy resin is cured with UV light. A laser projects a layer of the model onto the surface of the epoxy resin. After the layer has solidified, the part is lowered by one layer and the model is built up step by step from bottom to top. In standard mode, these systems operate with a layer thickness from 0.1 mm (standard) to 0.05 mm (high-resolution mode).

Small, medium or large

We currently offer seven lines for different component sizes: from 125 x 125 x 70 mm (LxDxH) up to 650 x 750 x 550 mm; lengths up to 990 mm are possible.

Quantity scale for STL
When it comes to the price, every STL piece counts

So perhaps you know the price for one piece and are wondering how much three, eight or twelve pieces would cost? With our STL quotes, you can simply calculate the base price yourself with our linear price scale – up to 50 pieces. For each additional ordered piece, you pay one percent less – all the way down to 50 percent!

The desired look is achieved by hand

the model is further refined via subsequent surface finishing: High-gloss surfaces are created by grinding or polishing, a soft-touch lacquer finish provides a rubber-like feel, a textured lacquer finish accentuates the design, and various lacquer finishes make any desired color possible.

The stereolithography process guarantees repeatable quality, short lead times, as well as high precision, flexibility and variety.
