Voxeljet printing systems process particle material that is applied to a construction surface in 80 µm-thin layers. A high-resolution print head then selectively prints the surface with a binder and then bonds it. This process is repeated layer by layer until the desired object is completed.
The Voxeljet 3D printers are mainly used for tool-free and fully automatic production of high-quality components. The high level of precision achieved via this process is due to the combination of a low layer thickness of 80 µm, an average particle size of 60 µm, a print-head resolution of 600 dpi and a process temperature of 22°C.
These machines are among the fastest 3D printers on the market and offer enough construction space to allow even large-volume 3D models to be produced via the layering process.
- PMMA (thermoplastic resin) components that can be infiltrated with wax can be ordered for your in-house investment-casting process. The use of these printed models for the investment-casting process makes it possible to achieve tolerances that could otherwise only be achieved through die casting or direct production of metal parts (VDG P690 A2 / A3).
- PMMA components infiltrated with epoxy resin. This results in stable and distortion-free concept models that can also be used as excellent fixtures. The parts can also be easily dyed or painted.
The layering process allows greater geometrical freedom – it is no longer necessary to take undercuts or draft angles into account. Thanks to the tool-free process, the production time is greatly shortened as some process steps, such as tool manufacture, are dispensed with.
